Lanzarote is a paradise not only for its stunning volcanic landscapes and beautiful beaches but also for its wellness offerings. With its therapeutic climate, the island has become a sought-after destination for those looking to unwind, recharge, and rejuvenate. Among the most popular wellness experiences on the island are Thalasso & Spa treatments, which offer the perfect remedy after engaging in sports activities or spending a windy day outdoors.

What is Thalassotherapy?
Thalassotherapy, derived from the Greek word thalassa meaning "sea," involves the use of seawater, marine products, and climate in treatments to promote health and well-being. Thalasso & Spa centers in Lanzarote harness the healing properties of the island’s abundant natural seawater, which is rich in minerals and trace elements.
The therapies often include seawater baths, seaweed wraps, mud treatments, and massages, all designed to relax muscles, improve circulation, and detoxify the body.
Thalasso & Spa in Lanzarote is a Perfect Retreat After Sports
Whether you've been hiking up the volcanic hills, surfing on the coast, or cycling through Lanzarote’s picturesque villages, the Thalasso & Spa centers provide an excellent post-sport recovery experience.
After physical exertion, the body often experiences muscle soreness, stiffness, and fatigue. Thalasso therapy offers several benefits that can help alleviate these discomforts.
Seawater Baths: Soaking in warm seawater helps to soothe aching muscles by improving blood circulation. The minerals present in the seawater, including magnesium and calcium, are absorbed by the body to promote muscle relaxation.
Hydrotherapy Pools: Many Thalasso spas feature hydrotherapy pools with jets that target specific muscle groups. These pools create a gentle, massaging effect on the body, aiding in the release of tension and providing a deep sense of relaxation.
Massage Therapies: Sports massages in the Thalasso centers are expertly designed to address the specific needs of athletes or active individuals. The combination of oil and the therapist's hands helps to loosen tight muscles and improve flexibility.
After a day of physical activity, treating yourself to a soothing Thalasso treatment can expedite your recovery, leaving you feeling recharged and ready for more adventure.
The Hotel Costa Calero Thalasso & SPA in Puerto Calero, just 11 minutes by car from MIALMA house, is the perfect place to relax body and mind.

Windy Days in Lanzarote and Wellness
Lanzarote is also known for its strong, persistent winds, which may be prevalent especially during the winter months. While the wind can be exhilarating and energizing for water sports enthusiasts, it can also be a bit harsh on the skin, leaving it dry and irritated. On windy days, the Thalasso & Spa offers a welcome refuge where the therapeutic sea-based treatments can provide much-needed relief.
Seaweed Wraps and Masks: Seaweed is a staple in many Thalasso therapies. The minerals and nutrients found in seaweed help to hydrate and nourish the skin, counteracting the drying effects of the wind.
Facial Treatments: Exposure to the wind can cause skin dryness and irritation, but the Thalasso & Spa centers offer soothing facials with marine-based products.
Relaxing Aromatherapy: After a windy day, many Thalasso spas offer aromatherapy sessions, where essential oils are combined with calming massages to help relieve stress and induce relaxation.
Thalasso & Spa treatments not only address the external needs of the body but also provide a holistic approach to well-being. The detoxifying effects of seawater and marine products help cleanse the body, expelling toxins and leaving you feeling revitalized.
Whether it’s the calming effect after a physically demanding day or the rejuvenation needed after the wind’s harsh touch, Thalasso & Spa therapies provide a comprehensive solution for both the body and mind.
The natural beauty of Lanzarote, combined with the healing power of the ocean, makes it a destination worth visiting for anyone in search of relaxation and wellness.
